Following Your Fasical Counterstrain Treatment
In most cases, the best thing to do following a session is to drink lots of water and rest. Here are a few tips and notes to help you take care of yourself after treatment that support you to get the most out of your treatments.
Take a walk!!
Take a 15-20 minute walk after treatment to flush your body’s toxins and get your blood flow moving.
Stay hydrated!!
Make sure to drink 10-12 glasses of pure water immediately following your session. You’ll help flush the waste from your body before it has a chance to inflict pain and cause new dysfunction. Try to avoid dehydrating favorites such as coffee and soft drinks for at least 48 hours after treatment.
Detox!!
Place your feet, ankle deep, in hot/warm water with 2 cups of Epsom Salt as soon after treatment as possible for 20 minutes. This will pull out the metabolic waste, toxins and inflammation that has accumulated over time. It drastically reduces the chance of post-treatment soreness. It’s best to do this every night for a week.
Take it Easy!!
Don’t plan on going to the athletic club or performing any type of strenuous activity for 2-3 days following your treatment. Resting reinforces the therapeutic effect of Fascial Counterstrain, whereas stressing healing tissues too soon after treatment often encourages the body to revert back to dysfunction reintroducing pain and the symptoms you are seeking to alleviate. This rest period is crucial and allows your body to process and rid itself of the metabolic waste, toxins and inflammation that has accumulated over time.
Take note!!
The body will continue to self-correct 2-3 days or more after a treatment. When the metabolic waste and lactic acid that has built up in your tissues is released during Fascial Counterstrain, there is a chance that it can create a mild, temporary toxicity within your body. This will often present as fatigue and body ache, or can feel like a mild case of the flu for 1-3 days following treatment.
